Empress Karina with friends

This is a slightly altered version of Empress Karina and friends. As noted there, Karina elevated herself to the status of Empress of the Third Imperium at the end of her original Traveller RPG campaign; here, she's standing next to her friends, Admiral Kudhell Medina and Dr. Kaffe Eleyais, looking down on the planet Capital from the vantage point of the Imperial palace. Resembling the two spherical satellite structures nearby, the Imperial palace is permanently suspended above the surface of Capital by enormous antigravity generators.

Also as noted before, this version of Karina is far-removed from my original vision of Karina as a humble space pilot from a poor background, and this isn't usually the way I think of her. Empress Karina did unite an empire fractured by civil war, and gave up power as the empire became a democratic republic, but her ascent to power was mainly thanks to awesome psionic powers which made her a virtual superhero in a normal-powered game. The youthful appearance of Karina and her friends isn't due to psionics, however; although all of them are over 60 years old, their youthful appearance is due to their Vilani blood.
