Mijii's pregnant bump

Mijii here is another scoutship pilot like Karina from the Karinaverse (so an ordinary human rather than a transhuman).  Although she looks to be about 6 months pregnant, she is actually just 3 months pregnant but with quadruplets she hopes to give up soon at a gene vendor station.

Unlike Karina (who grew up as an orphan with a mysterious past), Mijii grew up as a fairly ordinary child in a fairly ordinary family with fairly ordinary parents.  Further, Mijii's attitude toward sex was fairly conservative until just before signing up with the interstellar scout service.  Although modern starships were well-shielded against radiation, Mijii's mother advised her to place some of her ova in cryostasis before setting out on a career in space, just in case radiation might make her sterile and she might wish to have children later.  This in turn brought Mijii to an automated gene vendor station, a cheap alternative to a full fertility clinic where Mijii was intrigued to learn about more than just cryogenic egg storage.  Mijii learned that the gene vendor network paid bounties to women who conceived and donated embryos with especially desirable characteristics (something described in more detail here: Sad pregnant girl ); abortions were also available, but a woman could only earn a bounty if she committed to donating her live embryo or fetus to the network before its DNA was tested for desirability.  Mijii was both horrified and fascinated by the idea of this 'baby game' ~ but ultimately was more fascinated than horrified.  In the lax environment of the scout service, Mijii soon found her latent desires awakening and not only indulged in casual sex with strangers, but frequently deactivated her birth control implant for the thrill of risky unprotected sex that often left her pregnant.

Since the gene vendor network usually didn't accept embryos or fetuses more than 15-weeks gestated, a further thrill for Mijii came from flying missions that took her deep into interstellar space; if such missions went as expected, she could expect to reach a starport with a gene vendor station during her first trimester, but even a minor drive mishap might add weeks to a mission, and a major mishap might strand her alone in deep space with a rapidly-growing baby she would have no choice but to deliver alone and light-years from help.  Sometimes Mijii's embryos and fetuses earned her bounties and sometimes not; if not, she was obliged to pay the whole cost of the donation procedure herself.  But increasingly it was the risk that was more thrilling than the prospect of any bounty; it was only after an especially close call ~ when a meteorite crippled her ship and left her scrambling to make repairs while 14 weeks pregnant with twins ~ that Mijii refrained from deactivating her birth control quite so often.

Even so, Mijii still indulged herself now and again, such as when she visited the asteroid prospector Ugo Birthbaum (a legendary stud who had fathered hundreds of children across the sector; see Relieved pregnant Kudhell ).  Mijii was 30 and Ugo 86 at the time of their meeting, but the old coot did not disappoint Mijii with his potency, indeed knocking her up with quadruplets.  Although Mijii was used to being pregnant, she was embarrassed to find herself with a rapidly-growing bump less than two months after the encounter, and relieved that her scoutship delivered her safely to the nearest starport with a gene vendor station when she was just 12 weeks along (but very large all the same).  Thus we find her here, just before leaving her ship to visit the station (and earn a net bounty of 200 credits ~ about half a week's wages ~ for her trouble).
