Walking on air

Here, modeled by my supergenius RPG character Gem, is my idea for a high-heeled shoe of the distant future (or perhaps the near future, if antigravity technology soon becomes cheap and highly efficient). Many designers in the modern world use transparent uppers and straps to make their shoes look invisible, so this strapless sandal extrapolates that trend to a sandal without any straps or upper at all.

Basically, antigravity generators in the shoes project antigravitons which react against the gravitic soles worn by the wearer (which are held onto the sole by a chemical adhesive reaction) in order to produce a stable antigravity field, and the sensation of walking on air. If the antigravity field in either shoe should fail, the antigravity field computers in the shoes will then gently lower the wearer's feet until the gravitic soles come into contact with the heels of the shoes, at which point the gravitic soles attach themselves to the heels and can be worn as ordinary non-levitating sandals.

Shoes of this type could also include straps attached to the gravitic sole for purely decorative purposes, but this particular shoe is designed to maximize the illusion of walking on air without any support at all.
